✦ About
Born March 2, 1968, in Kyoto Prefecture. Real name: Akihiro Hattori. His mother, Kazuko Hattori, was a kimono dressing educator who opened Japan's first "kimono classroom" in 1964. After his parents divorced, Kagami, then ten years old, moved to Kyoto with his mother and older sister Yūko (who later became vice principal of their mother's academy). At the same age of ten, he encountered tarot cards, sparking a deep interest in divination, and by around sixteen, he had already begun writing a regular column in a magazine. After graduating from Higashiyama High School, he completed his undergraduate studies at International Christian University and earned a master's degree from the same institution (focusing on critical studies of Jung). His specialty lies in introducing and researching "psychological astrology," which connects Western astrology and tarot with C.G. Jung's depth psychology. By interpreting divination not merely as fortune-telling but through a psychological lens, he has gained widespread acceptance beyond traditional divination enthusiasts. In February 2006, he became a visiting professor at Heian Jogakuin University, and currently serves as a visiting professor at Kyoto Bunkyo University, as well as a member of the Astrological Association of Great Britain and a director of the Japanese Transpersonal Association. He has appeared on numerous television programs, including TV Tokyo's "Solomon Ryu" and "Ladies 4," TBS's "Jōnetsu Tairiku," and Fuji TV's "Gutan." He has authored, co-edited, supervised, and translated over 100 books on themes such as astrology, tarot, witchcraft, and angels, and continues to actively write, translate, and appear in media.
