✦ About
So Man Fung, born So Man Lap in 1960 in Kowloon Walled City, Hong Kong, with the English name Peter So Man Fung, later moved to Portland Street in Mong Kok. His family ran a wholesale business selling rice dumplings, and he was the middle child among six siblings. He attended primary school at Tak Ming Middle School and later studied at Yan Oi Tong College, dropping out after Form 4. After leaving school in 1977, he worked various jobs, including as a delivery assistant, a dockworker, a factory laborer, and an extra in films, and spent six years as a hairdresser at the New World Hotel salon. In 1983, through a friend who owned the hair salon, So Man Fung began studying feng shui under Master Ng Woon Hin, initially analyzing feng shui and fortune-telling for clients on a part-time basis. In 1986, he officially started teaching face reading, palmistry, and Ba Zi (Four Pillars of Destiny). In 1987, he traveled alone to Tibet for six months, visiting the sacred Buddhist sites of "Mount Kailash" and "Lake Manasarovar," a journey that greatly inspired his later practice of geomancy. From 1988 onward, he was hired by overseas clients to conduct feng shui consultations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Spain, and Canada. In 1992, he formally began teaching feng shui courses, gradually amassing a large following of disciples, earning him the nickname "Modern Lai Bu Yee." In 1999, So Man Fung published his first book, "So Man Fung's Face Reading for Understanding People," followed by introductory feng shui books and annual fortune guides based on the Chinese zodiac. He also authored English-language works on face reading and palmistry, totaling over forty publications to date. In 2000, he launched a personal feng shui website to expand his teaching and service channels. Starting in 2006, he collaborated with Hong Kong Cable TV to produce programs such as "Feng Shui Intensive Course" covering feng shui and face reading. In 2007, he hosted the travel show "40 Days of Crazy World Tour." In 2008, he made his television drama debut in "Today's Court," and later appeared in cameo roles in films. So Man Fung specializes in feng shui geomancy (landform, compass school, and commercial applications), face reading, palmistry, Ba Zi fortune-telling, and nameology. He has long been active in television programs, book publishing, and feng shui teaching, with services spanning Hong Kong, Europe, North America, Australia, Singapore, Japan, and Taiwan.
